Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Is Here, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. It was showcased in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.

The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Beloved Titles

Similar to the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.

However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands

The film will feature once again of the initial voice actors, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive close to the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his companions.

The company has a trio of new releases officially announced for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
